You hear about Golden Hour from every photographer you’ve ever spoken to, seen on Instagram and followed on Facebook. So why is Golden Hour the golden child? Well, there are several reasons to this!
Zion Brides featured my photos on their publication on golden hour, which you can find here: https://zionbrides.com/why-golden-hour-makes-a-difference-zb-inspo/
Here they explain why photographers make golden hour our preferred portrait times. Whether it’s that morning sunrise setting the landscape on fire or that vibrant sunset that glows on the skin creating the perfect tones and flatters everything from the moment to your beautiful features, we’ll take either!
I’ll schedule your session, if possible, 45 minutes to 1 hour prior to sunset or sunrise. As the sun meets the horizon, it provides the most flattering light for skin tones and backlighting that gives you that “WOW” moment we all crave.
Yes, of course there are those days when we just can’t fit that time slot into our session and that’s ok! I’ll still try to schedule you in the morning or afternoon when the sun is more flattering on the skin. The lower the sun is in the sky, the softer and more smooth your skin appears, not to mention no squinting eyes!
We rarely get clouds and rain on the Central Coast of California, however Morro Bay, Pismo Beach, Cayucos and San Simeon all get their fair share of fog. I know what you’re thinking…ew fog! I wan’t that glorious sunset, but hear me out! The fog can also create flattering skin tones and beautiful deep tones in the hair and clothes. Not only will you be squint free, you’ll also benefit from scheduling a little earlier. Trust me, when that fog catches the sunlight, it’s like a DREAM! Some of my favorite portraits, have that glorious sun lit fog in the background.
