Adelyne and Brock knew they wanted a beach location for their engagement session, which happens to be one of my favorite locations. Their wedding date is in the fall so the scheduled this session with plenty of time to send out save the dates. I love helping my clients choose wardrobes for their sessions and Adelyne wanted a couple outfit options. Neutral earth tones are aways beautiful on all skin tones and types. She chose a nude dress for the first half of the session and then changed into a playful white off the shoulder top and jeans for the second half. Brock wore a white dress shirt to compliment her dress and changed into a blue button up that fit with the jeans vibe.
If you’re open to changing during your session, I highly recommend it! You get diversity in your choices for save the dates and gives you options for your wedding website, Instagram/Facebook as well as any prints you want for your wedding day.
The versatility of the outfit change brought a fresh perspective of the two and their love for each other. Her jeans and cute top allowed them to relax into new candid poses that we wouldn’t have captured with just the dress.
There are so many beaches to choose from on the Central Coast for your Engagement Session. Adelyne and Brock have sentimental memories in Pismo Beach and wanted a rocky beach location for their shoot, which made it the perfect location for them. With so many options of beach terrain in San Luis Obispo County, chatting with your photographer before deciding on your location is key. From sandy dunes to rocks and grassy bluffs, your ideal location is something worth inquiring with your photographer before you book your session.
These two slayed this session! They relaxed into each other, like a good date night and made the photos so natural and fun. If you’re nervous about your session there are a few things you can do to make your anxiety take a hike:
#1 – Talk with your photographer! The right photographer can really put your mind at ease about the session. I’ll walk you through what to expect so there are no surprises and everyone’s comfortable with the direction of the shoot.
#2 – Plan with your photographer! From outfits to location, your photographer should be there for you to guide you through the process. If you have a concept you really like, I can help you get there.
#3 Treat it like a date night! You’re getting dressed up anyways so you might as well go out afterwards. With a whole night planned after your session, it’s the best way to get those nerves out by looking forward to your plans and reward yourselves with dinner and drinks.
#4 Zero judgement on this tip…Take a shot or have a stiff drink before your session! Honestly, we all know a good shot of whiskey or (my favorite) tequila will help you relax! I love when my clients know themselves enough to have a strong drink before and show up much more into the session than if they didn’t treat themselves to a lil somethin’ before.
